About Ferns
Ferns Studio is named for the five of us — Faye, Emmet, Regina, Nils, and Sonnie. It grew out of a shared background in art — RISD and Dartmouth for Nils, MassArt for Regina — a house that's always had dogs in it, and eventually kids, and a plain realization that the work we care about most isn't always staged. It's what happens when you actually pay attention — to the weather, the mood, what a kid or a dog does with an ordinary afternoon. That's the thing worth getting good at.
Nils and Regina cut their teeth in New York's photography world for two decades and spent time behind the camera for some of the biggest names in commercial photography — Nike, Apple, Cadillac and Adidas among them. They’ve pointed that same eye at the people and animals actually in the room at home.
